Scaling Through Aggressive Investment
Urban Company is doubling down on its ‘InstaHelp’ quick-service housekeeping vertical, which has emerged as its most aggressive growth lever. In Q4 FY26, the segment processed 2.7 million orders, generating Rs 9 crore in revenue—a significant uptick from 1.6 million orders in the previous quarter.
The Economics of Rapid Expansion
The aggressive push comes with a heavy financial price tag. Segmental losses for InstaHelp reached Rs 119 crore in Q4, with the adjusted EBITDA loss per order rising 17% sequentially to Rs 447. Urban Company attributes this to substantial marketing spends, supply onboarding, and the cost of trial customer acquisition.
Key Operational Metrics
- Order Growth: 66% sequential growth (1.6M to 2.7M orders).
- Retention: Monthly user retention holds between 30–33%.
- Usage Density: Retained users average 2.5 orders per month.
- Unit Economics: 30% of orders met the Rs 200+ target AOV in March.
Strategic Outlook
While InstaHelp remains a loss-making venture, Urban Company maintains a strong buffer. Its core business generated Rs 106 crore in adjusted EBITDA during FY26, and the company sits on a healthy cash reserve of Rs 2,021 crore. Management has set a target for InstaHelp to reach adjusted EBITDA breakeven by Q3 FY28, signaling a long-term play for market dominance in the quick-service category.
