Revolutionizing Carbon Removal
Gurugram-based climate technology startup Prithu has successfully raised Rs 10 crore in a seed funding round led by Transition VC. Founded in 2024 by Sunny Vaish, Prabal Tomar, and Abhinav Pandey, the company is building a full-stack platform focused on nature-based carbon removal.
The Prithu Model
- Nature-Based Solutions: The platform focuses on regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, biochar, and biogas.
- High-Integrity Credits: Prithu transforms these interventions into carbon credits for the global voluntary carbon market, serving sectors like aviation, energy, and manufacturing.
- Technology-Led MRV: The company leverages blockchain-powered Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems to ensure the integrity of the carbon credits generated.
Growth and Ambition
The company aims to sequester 20 million tonnes of CO₂e by 2030. With this new infusion of capital, Prithu plans to expand its footprint to 5 lakh hectares in nature-based solution projects over the next 12–24 months while enhancing its technological infrastructure and forging global partnerships.
Market Context
Prithu enters a competitive landscape that includes players like Varaha, Grow Indigo, and Boomitra. The global carbon market is currently estimated at $3–4 billion and is projected to scale aggressively to $40–50 billion by 2030, driven by global net-zero commitments and the corporate need for high-quality carbon offsets.
