Midjourney has finally shed its "Discord bot" skin to become a fully fledged web-based creative studio. While it spent years accessible only through slash commands in chat servers, the current web interface (fully matured as of late 2025) offers a robust workspace with inpainting, panning, and infinite zoom without the command-line friction. It remains the undisputed king of aesthetic coherence and artistic style, consistently outputting "beautiful" images where competitors like DALL-E 3 output "literal" ones.
The recent release of the Niji 7 model (Jan 9, 2026) and the stable v7 model cements its lead in visual fidelity. v7 brings vastly improved prompt adherence and text rendering—historically its Achilles' heel—while Niji 7 pushes anime/illustrative consistency to a level that threatens to disrupt the manga industry. However, it remains a walled garden. Unlike Flux or Stable Diffusion, you cannot run this locally or fine-tune it on your own datasets, making it excellent for inspiration and marketing assets but risky for building proprietary pipelines.
